Northern California
Northern California, sometimes referred to as NorCal, is the northern portion of the U.S. state of California. The region contains the San Francisco Bay Area, the state capital, Sacramento; as well as the substantial natural beauty of the redwood forests, the northern California coast, the Big Sur coastline area, the Sierra Nevada including Yosemite Valley and Lake Tahoe, Mt. Shasta which is the second-highest peak in the Cascade Range, and the Central Valley.
Native Americans arrived in Northern California perhaps as early as 5,000 to 8,000 BCE, and successive waves of arrivals led to one of the most densely populated areas of pre-Columbian North America. The arrival of European explorers from the early 1500s to the mid-1700s, did not establish European settlements in Northern California. In 1770, the Spanish mission at Monterey was the first European settlement in the area, followed by other missions along the coast—eventually extending as far north as Sonoma County.

My family moved to Santa Rosa back in 1985 for 2 years. I wasn't lucky to have moved with them. I wanted to stay in Jersey. They said that they seen snow flurries, that was hard to believe, LOL.
Cali is too big of a state for me. That's why I live in the Small Wonder, First State, Delaware, LOL.

Now you know why California is "divided" in north and south california with, San Francisco being roughly were Nor-Cal begins and So-Cal ends. The State is just too vast to take it in in one bite.
I have been up and down California, most of my life. Was active in Scouting for many many moons and did a lot of High Sierra treeking, camping, canoeing and what have you. Not to mention I used to travel a great deal both within and outside the State.
Still, my heart is in San Diego... my hometown. I will be publishing various articles about different Counties (do you know what a "County" actually is? I will put up something about this soon), cities, towns, attractions, sports, odd and weird information and much more as time goes by. It is not exactly easy as I need to research in order to be as factual as possible.
Still, bear with me, ok? I may be a Californian... but am a San Diegan first.

It might take awhile... And I am planning to get a mod some day when we hit the 1000 member mark. Preferably someone who is very enthusiast and also knows a lot of NorCal and knows how to write.... Am I asking too much?

No you are not asking for too much. Cali is a big state and it's to much for you & Steve too handle.
Someone that is from North Cali would be good when you get to that point.

Actually I just know about this. Its meant the place that I go before are belong to southern California. I stay at Torrance during my last visit. No matter Northern or Southern of California.., what I observed this is really interesting and fascinating place to visit and also worth your vacation.
