Default Southern California Earthquake

Steve & Alex:
I hope you and the family are alright. I just heard about the 5.8 magnitude earthquake that hit southern California.

My prayers are with those who have been affected by the earthquake.

This is the information I have:

Thanks for your concern. It actually was 5.4 magnitude, as revised later in the day. Hit around Chino Hills in eastern Los Angeles County.

Was in school teaching a large class from 10am to noon and no one in the group of about 50 atendees felt anything... otherwise, we would have evacuated the building faster than a speedy llama with gas.

I dont know about Steve and pray he and his family are ok. They are much closer to the quake epicenter.

One thing is sure: It did not happen in the Saint Andreas Fault, which is very unstable, nor at a great deep or it would probably been very bad.

Thanks again, God bless you and ur lil heart.

Glad to hear that you and the familia are safe.
Please post when you hear something from Steve. Chase was also concerned, he mentioned something on TD about him.

Yeah I heard that the San Andreas Fault is not stable at all. When I heard earthquake and they said southern Cali. I immediately thought of you and Steve. Then I saw the news on the Weather Channel and they showed that it was mainly Los Angeles. And I know that it is not too far form San Diego.

Take care & God Bless you also!!!

Rosita

Again, thanks for your concen. Really appreciate it, Rosa.

As for Steve, he and his family are also OK. He had not been around for awhile for the simple reason he had to take care of some urgent personal business. So no worries. Please let Caddy (Chase) know this.

As for the queake, it was not on or in the Saint Andreas fault which, yes, is extremely unstable.

Rather, it was on a much smaller local fault on a place named Chino Hills (there is a minimum security prison somewere around there, I think: Chino State Prison) which lies in the eastern part of LAX County, near San Bernardino. It happened at a very shallow ground level and this helped dissipate the strenght of the event (these kind of things are technically called "events") and did not propagate too strongly, even if it was felt as far as northern Baja. We have to be vigilant, however, due to the myriad aftershocks expected to hapen.

Pls pray to God for our collective safety. One thing is fires, quite another is quakes.

Will let u know if anything else is worth mentioning.

The question is when and where the big one will be coming. Let's hope that California will be prepared for this major and probably inevitable disaster and act of God.
